New Zealand beat India by 4 runs in what was a closely contested third and final Twenty20 worldwide at Hamilton to seal a 2-1 series victory on Sunday.

New Zealand, sent into bat, made 212 for four with India 208 for six at the close.

India looked to be on the ropes when they needed 47 off the last three overs. Rahane, who has been playing only test match cricket for the long time, wasn't that impressive in the test series against Australia managing to score only 217 runs but his List A form has become an relief for him as far as his selection in the World Cup Squad is concerned.

Kuldeep Yadav struck twice in the third T20 against New Zealand in Hamilton.

Munro smashed 72 (40), including five fours and five sixes, while Seifert hit three fours and three sixes in his 43 (25).

Kane Williamson (27) fell in the next over when he pulled a rising delivery from Khaleel Ahmed to Yadav at fine leg.

Vijay Shankar took an equally aggressive stance at the start of India's chase and the visitors were up at the required run rate through the first half of their innings, but were unable to establish partnerships.

Karthik failed to get the big shot off the first four balls - 2,0,0,1.

Sharma's attempt to bat through the innings while others created mayhem came to an end on 38.

Requiring 16 runs from the last over, Karthik scored a couple of runs on the first two balls.

Hardik Pandya's brief cameo produced 21 while MS Dhoni, feted as the master finisher, could only make two in a brief stay at the crease. While the hosts will be looking to salvage some pride after a 4-1 pounding in the ODI series, India will be determined to finish their southern hemisphere tour without a series loss.
