Renault's R.S.19 won't be seen until next week, when pre-season testing kicks off in Barcelona, although the digital renderings seen here are a first draft look at the team's 2019 vehicle.

A similar livery to 2018 was unveiled at the team's updated headquarters at Enstone.

Renault aims to close the gap to Formula One's top three teams this season, and keep the smile on new recruit Daniel Ricciardo's face, after seeing a big step up in engine performance. "We were champions in 2005 and 2006, obviously we did not return to this competition just to play like the others".

Renault Sport Racing Managing director Cyril Abiteboul said ahead of the unveiling of its 2019 auto on Tuesday that the team was on the rise and needed to put the hard years of rebuilding behind it. We don't want to stop here, it's not enough, we want to fight for more. "We know them and understand them and had time to put in place a structure", he said.

"2019 has to be the year of consolidation of that progression".

"If we made a decision to get all of you here today it's really because we feel ready", Abiteboul said. We want to reduce the gap to the frontrunners. How do we do that? "Then we want to target engine excellence, while we give a bit of time to (the factory at) Enstone to deliver a race-winning chassis".

Red Bull and Mercedes will be next to take the covers off their 2019 machines on Wednesday, ahead of respective shakedowns, while Racing Point will launch its season in Toronto later in the day.

The Enstone roll-out did not feature Renault's 2019 R.S.19, as the presentation - as Haas and Williams - showcased the team's relatively unchanged livery on last year's auto, although the modified R.S.18 displayed a 2019-spec front wing. "That's what we're aiming to do". The Australian, who has won seven F1 races since 2014, is considered one of the best talents on the grid and alongside Hulkenberg completes one of the most exciting driver line-ups going into the new season.
