Officials closed the Malahat Highway outside of Victoria due to risky conditions and limited visibility.

Just hours after Environment Canada lifted one snowfall warning for the region, a second has been issued as the weather office warns of "a long period of snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres expected".

Up to five to 10 centimetres was expected to fall around the Lower Mainland, while up to 20 centimetres could fall on southeastern Vancouver Island.

Snow is forecast to arrive by the afternoon and continue into Tuesday morning across most of Vancouver Island including Victoria and the southern Gulf Islands, the Sunshine Coast, Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver.

TransLink spokeswoman Aliya Mohamed said some buses were seeing delays due to snow but that those routes were being monitored.

Some customers, especially those in harder-to-travel areas, may not receive any mail or parcels until road conditions improve.

Time to bundle up.

An arctic outflow warning is in effect for the Sea to Sky highway, as cold arctic air surges through the regions.
