Former New York Knicks center Enes Kanter has agreed to a deal with the Portland Trail Blazers, less than a week after being released by the Knicks shortly after the NBA's trade deadline. I look forward to helping the Blazers achieve the ultimate goal of competing for a championship.

The eighth-year center averaged 14 points and 10.5 rebound season with NY this season.

Assuming everything goes off without a hitch, one would assume Kanter will join the Trail Blazers after the All-Star break on their seven-game, 15-day road trip, which starts on February 21 against the Nets in Brooklyn.

The Knicks waived Kanter, 26, at the trade deadline last Thursday.

Kanter will play significant minutes at center behind Jusuf Nurkic as Portland builds its roster for the postseason.

The Blazers are now sitting in fourth place in the Western Conference with a record of 33-23.

The Blazers had originally signed Kanter to a four-year $70 million offer sheet in the summer of 2015, a figure the Oklahoma City Thunder matched in order to retain the restricted free agent's services.

Kanter had fallen out of the Knicks' rotation, losing his starting spot after just five games, as the Knicks pile up the losses and prioritize their younger players. He appeared in 44 games.
