Day two of the Cheltenham Festival will go ahead after the course passed a safety inspection.

"We're delighted that the weather conditions have changed from the initial forecasts and the prospect of higher wind speeds and gusts have receded", said course clerk Simon Claisse. Altior is the strong favourite to win the feature race - The Queen Mother Champion Chase at 3.30pm. There had been fears for today's action due to high winds being forecast.

A record opening day crowd attended Cheltenham yesterday with 67,934 people in attendance to witness a dramatic day of racing as Espoir D'allen claimed the Unibet Champion Hurdle for trainer Gavin Cromwell.

It's Ladies' Day at Cheltenham and there are plenty of big names running over the seven races today.
