On September 13, 2013, BCCI was found Sreesanth guilty on all the three counts - corruption, betting and bringing disrepute to the game - and imposed the lifetime ban on him.

Cricketer S Sreesanth expressed hope with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and stated that he will return to cricket soon.

He hasn't played any competitive cricket ever since the shambolic occurring in the T20 tournament. In a recent interaction with media, Bhuvaneswari revealed that she is quite happy about the fact that the honourable Supreme Court has revoked the life ban of her husband.

In a relief for the pace bowler, the apex court set aside the life ban imposed on him as a bench headed by Ashok Bhushan asked the BCCI to consider the quantum of punishment on Sreesanth. Last month, Sreesanth completely dismissed the charges on him and mentioned that he wasn't involved in the telephone conversation.

"I have heard about the Supreme Court order but we are yet to get the copy of the order". In one of the overs, he was speculated to have bowled a no-ball that somehow evaded the eyes of the on-field umpires. His team-mate and Mumbai spinner Ankeet Chavan is also given the same punishment.

The bench passed this order on Sreesanth's plea challenging the decision of a division bench of the Kerala High Court which had restored the life ban imposed on him by the BCCI.

"It is a welcome move by the Supreme Court that they have instructed BCCI to have a re-look at Sreesanth's ban".

February 5, 2018: The Supreme Court issues notice to the BCCI to respond within four weeks to the petition filed by Sreesanth.

Including Sreesanth, 36 people were accused in the spot-fixing case, and were later discharged by a Patiala House court in July, 2015.

Asked whether the matter has to be referred to the Ombudsman now, Nair said, "The SC order says that the BCCI have to reconsider the ban". The apex court observes that Sreesanth's conduct, who is facing a life ban for his alleged involvement in the sensational spot-fixing scandal, in the entire episode was "not good".
