He expected every player travelling with the team to England to do well, and there are no excuses for their performances in the ODI series against Australia. "They deserve all the credit in coming to India and winning", Katich said.

"To win this series, particularly after being 2-0 down, is a brilliant achievement ... it means a lot to us. India had the better of us in Australia and we were able to have the better of them here", Langer said at the end of fifth ODI.

"We always knew that the plans and the style that we wanted to play are all there (and) can win us the World Cup", he added.

Usman Khawaja struck his second century in three matches - and a third-straight score of 90 plus - as the visitors first put 272-9 on the board, before an Adam Zampa-led attack skittled India for 237 in reply, the legspinner claiming 3-46 from his 10 overs.

India's chase looked in good shape early on as they kept pace with Australia's scoring rate, the sides separated by one run at the 15-over mark.

Zampa's wonderful over just after the midway point proved crucial as two key India batsmen were removed, Rohit and Jadeja both stumped by Carey.

With the 50-over World Cup coming up in a a couple of months, Katich asserted that the Australians will have plenty of options whey they get down to the task of selecting the squad for the marquee tournament.

Usman Khawaja was named player of the series.

Coach Justin Langer said he was "incredibly proud" of a team who also swept the two-match Twenty20 series. Former Australian World Cup victor Allan Border says, "There may no longer be room left in Australia's ODI XI for Steve Smith and David Warner after the team claimed its "best ever" series win in the format".

India surrendered a 2-0 lead in the just-concluded five-match series even as the Australians made a remarkable comeback by winning three consecutive matches.

Now Kohli wants to see his boys having fun in the IPL where they will split up and represent their respective franchises before the next national assignment in the form of the ICC mega event.
