The Sopranos Prequel's Michael Gandolfini Visits The Sopranos Final Scene Restaurant

In the show's final scene, Gandolfini's Tony Soprano visits Holsten's with his wife Carmela (Edie Falco) and his son Anthony Jr.

"The Sopranos" prequel has a new name and a release date.

Production on "The Sopranos" prequel "Newark" is expected to start sometime in May with the release date now confirmed for next year. In addition to Nivola, Michael Gandolfini will play a younger version of Tony Soprano as he takes over the role made famous by his father James Gandolfini, who passed away in 2013.

What we know: Newark is set in the era of the Newark riots in the '60s, when African Americans and Italian Americans in the city were at each other's throats.

"It's a profound honor to continue my dad's legacy while stepping into the shoes of a young Tony Soprano", Michael said in a statement obtained by Variety and Deadline after his casting was announced.

The film originally had the working title of The Many Saints of Newark.

"The Many Saints of Newark" will be released to the public on September 25, 2020, according to a report from Deadline.

The young actor was smiling while sitting in the booth, with a sign visible that reads, 'This booth is reserved for the Soprano family'.

The Sopranos series creator David Chase is co-producing and writing with Lawrence Konner.

The cast will also include Alessandro Nivola, Jon Bernthal, Vera Farmiga, Ray Liotta, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen, and John Magaro.
