Google Translate will autodetect the language which you can then translate by selecting a language on the right.

Google's has a pretty solid keyboard app for both Android and iOS, but curiously, the company always pick iOS to test and implement cool features before its own operating system. Tap that option to pull up the direct text translation feature.

Google now has 70 iOS apps within Apple's App Store in Canada.

Once you update your Gboard app, youll notice a translate icon in the suggestion bar. To date, Gboard has language support for nearly 700 languages. Apart from the instant translation support, there are no other changes in the latest version of Gboard.

Open the app where you want to enter the translated text, then tap an area where you want the text entered. The new feature enables iPhone and iPad owners to directly translate text-based messages without toggling to the separate Google Translate app, speeding up the entire process and decreasing disruption to ongoing conversations.

To use the new feature, hit the large "G" Google button above the mobile keyboard.
