Also gearing up for streaming launches are: WarnerMedia, which owns studio Warner Bros (Lord of the Rings, The Lego Movie), HBO, and the rights to Netflix's biggest show, Friends; and Comcast's NBC Universal, owner of the U.S. version of The Office - another Netflix hit - as well as Jurassic World and Fast and Furious maker Universal. Like the original comic, the animated series will be an anthology. To make the leap, Disney ended a lucrative licensing relationship with Netflix, which had become the video streaming home for its latest films after their theatrical release, as well as many of its TV series and classic movies.

The new entrants, with more expected, could launch a formidable challenge to Netflix, which has about 140 million paid subscribers in 190 markets, and to other services such as Amazon Prime. Those titles, along with the previously announced Loki series starring Tom Hiddleston, will be available within the first year of launch of the streaming service. However, Feige didn't give an official confirmation about the Hawkeye series. Other titles including Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther and Ant Man and the Wasp will be available within year one of the launch. 2019 Disney Universe films such as "The Lion King", "Avengers: End Game", and "Star Wars: Episode IX" will be streaming exclusively on Disney+ after their theater run. But while these announcements might be considered mild Avengers: Endgame spoilers, it is also possible that some of these shows (particularly WandaVision, since we learn in Infinity War that Scarlet Witch and Vision have spent the last couple years since Captain America: Civil War traveling the world together) could be set prior to Thanos' snap. It's based on the classic Marvel comic book that explored alternate realities and different takes. The series reimagines key moments from the MCU with mind-bending questions. The first episode of the series is going to put the focus on Peggy Carter taking on the Captain Marvel name after getting injected with the super-serum. However, Star Wars boss Kathleen Kennedy confirmed during the presentation that Alan Tudyk will also reprise his role as reprogrammed Imperial security droid K-2SO.

Disney stressed plans to use its coveted content, and original creations to come, to differentiate itself in the increasingly competitive streaming television market.

The Simpsons will also join Disney+: The first 30 seasons of The Simpsons will also be available on Disney+ on launch day.
