Man City midfielder Gundogan: Luck has Liverpool leaders

With Liverpool displaying nervy moments and the occasional dip from their usual level during recent games, City have generally carried on as usual and continued to set the standard in the Premier League with fine attacking displays.

De Bruyne was surprisingly benched for Manchester City's 1-0 defeat by Tottenham in the Champions League last week, but returned to orchestrate a 3-1 victory against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday. "They want to win the Premier League more than the Champions League".

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is adamant Liverpool don't deserve to be Premier League leaders.

It means City remain two points behind but, crucially, they have a game in hand, and Guardiola believes they can not afford a single slip-up during the run-in. "We know that, and the players have shown they want to do it, and I didn't have any doubts about that".

"I'm so pleased", added Guardiola.

"In two seasons we've got 83 points with five games left". Palace's home record is however not exactly impressive in the top-flight this season as they have won just four times from 16 games at Selhurst Park. "The amount of games we have had - Brighton, and three days later the Champions League, and now here, and the way we played for 75 or 80 minutes was really good". "They came here with a fully-fit squad and they paid us the respect of putting a very strong team out".

"I have to say, from our point of view, it is brilliant to watch, even though it is painful for me".

"When he plays they are a better team, thats for sure", he said on Match of the Day.
