The Boston Celtics can take complete control of this series with a victory here and building a 2-0 lead. The Celtics outscored IN 26-8 IN the third with a flurry of three-pointers on 9/21 overall shooting, while the Pacers were 2/19. Considering their playoff run past year without Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, the Celtics were expected to be among the top contenders, but have underachieved and enter the playoffs as the East's No. 4 seed.

"We had open looks that we didn't knock down", Pacers head coach Nate McMillan said.

They found out in their Game 1 win over the Pacers that they are equipped to win an ugly, physical game as well. The Celtics are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 Conference Quarterfinals games, 20-5-1 ATS in their last 26 Wednesday games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 2 days rest. The Pacers just don't have enough consistent offense to be much of a threat in this series. During that span, Boston's starters shot 3 for 7 from the field and turned the ball over four times.

"We'll you figured they'll make adjustments", Pacers guard Darren Collison said. Matthews canned two 3-pointers in the early going to help give the Pacers a 12-6 lead with 6:20 to go in the opening quarter. "I thought we lost a little confidence". The Celtics quickly made it 29-25, but the Pacers answered with six straight to lead 36-25 with 5:15 to go in the second.

The Pacers were never got the deficit under double digits in the fourth quarter.

Celtics: Outrebounded the Pacers 55-42. Kyrie Irving is averaging 20 points and seven assists while Marcus Morris is averaging 20 points and seven rebounds.

This is obviously not where the Boston Celtics were hoping to be but even with a season full of inconsistency and apparent chemistry problems, they have everything they need to make a run at the title. Boston got the first basket of the second quarter - a nifty euro-step finish in transition by Gordon Hayward - but in rattled off nine consecutive points and carried that lead into the break thanks in part to Boston's 32.5 percent shooting from the floor, 23.5 percent shooting from three and 10 turnovers, which led to 11 points. Boston outscored IN 26-8 IN the period.
