Bernat was sent off later in the half in controversial circumstances and PSG would capitulate in the second 45 minutes.

Pepe finished off a one-on-one and Jonathan Bamba smashed in at the near post to put Lille in control.

Magalhaes and Fonte sealed an emphatic win for Lille with a header each in the 72nd and 84th minutes, respectively.

It proved to be PSG's heaviest defeat since 2010 and the first time they've conceded five goals since 2000.

It was a night to forget all round for PSG, who had two Mbappe goals ruled out for offside and lost captain Thiago Silva and Meunier to injury in the first half.

They now need three points at Nantes on Wednesday to guarantee the Ligue 1 title.

World Cup victor Mbappe had already had one goal chalked off by the officials when a comical Meunier own goal set Lille on their way after six minutes.

Four minutes later, Bernat volleyed home from Mbappe's cross to equalise.

"We've still got six matches left and we need to win at least three or four to be assured of the Champions League next season". "That's not normal. We have to show more personality, that's one of our faults and we have to fix that".

Debuchy then completed the win with a deflected close-range strike in the final minute to put Jean-Louis Gasset's side back ahead of Marseille, who started the day fourth and in the Europa League spot after surviving late VAR penalty drama on Saturday to scrape to a 2-1 win over Nimes.

Mbappe could be heard complaining about the referee, saying per French Football News: "This referee takes the Coupe de la Ligue from us, he takes our players from us, he takes everything".

"Moussa Diaby and Thilo Kehrer could not play - they were sick!"

"We don't have enough players".

PSG played the match with a number of notable absentees, including Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Angel Di Maria.

"I don't even know how many players I can take to Nantes".

"With 10 players it became complicated, we played with sick players who should not have played".

PSG needed a home win against Strasbourg to clinch an eighth French title last weekend, only to draw 2-2.

"Yes, I will be telling the president as this situation is not good".
