Ivanka Trump's tribute to crash victims

The First Daughter visited the Holy Trinity Church Sunday, where she was accompanied by religious leaders and laid a wreath to commemorate the 157 crash victims.

The Women's Global Development and Prosperity (W-GDP) initiative aims to economically empower 50 million women by 2025.

Ivanka Trump, the U.S. president's daughter and senior adviser, met religious leaders in Ethiopia and laid a wreath to the 157 people killed in an air crash in the country last month.

Trump arrived in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, Sunday for a summit on African women's economic inclusion and empowerment.

The president's daughter and senior adviser is in Africa to promote a White House global women's project.

"Fundamentally, we believe that investing in women is a smart development policy and it is a smart business", Trump said after sampling coffee at a traditional Ethiopian ceremony.

Trump is also scheduled to meet with Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed before going on to Ivory Coast, where she will attend a meeting on economic opportunities for women in West Africa.
