The victory gives Vegas a 2-1 lead in its first-round series with the Sharks, making the second year franchise the first team in National Hockey League history to hold a lead in each of its first five playoffs series. Marc-Andre Fleury registered 34 saves on 37 shots in the winning effort.

Paul Stastny collected two goals and three assists as Vegas captured another high-scoring matchup with San Jose. Game 4 is Tuesday night in Las Vegas.

Stone, who had five goals in 18 regular-season games with Vegas after coming over in a trade-deadline deal with Ottawa, sealed the win his third goal of the night and sixth in three playoff games when he beat Jones with another backhand at the end of a give-and-go with Stastny. San Jose sports a 23-15 record all-time in a Game 3 (9-7 on the road).

So far each team has won one game.

Just 1:31 into the second period, Mark Stone broke the tie on the power play with his third goal of the postseason. Overall, San Jose just didn't play a good enough game, from matching up against Vegas' stealthy Mark Stone-led line to playing on its heels from 16 seconds into the game.

After Stone made it 5-1 with another backhand goal just 36 seconds into the third period, San Jose cut it to 5-3 with goals by Couture and Meier 54 seconds apart. As of Sunday morning, 51 percent of public bets are siding with viisting San Jose. Then, Meier knocked in a rebound after Gustav Nyquist's shot was stopped, making it 5-3 with a little more than 14 minutes remaining. San Jose is 6-2 in its last eight Sunday games. "They haven't, regardless of the scoreboard". San Jose LW Michael Haley left in the second period after injuring his left ankle on a blocked shot and did not return.

NOTES: The Golden Knights signed forward Nikita Gusev to a one-year, entry-level contract and expect the Moscow native to join the team for practice on Monday. The Knights have essentially turned this into a best-of-five series and now hold home ice advantage, which has proven to be a big factor in their success this season after going 24-12-5 at the T-Mobile Arena.
