The body of a woman missing for more than five years was recently discovered inside an old refrigerator at a Margate scrap metal business.

The freezer with Lacey's body inside was taken to the facility after its owner, Jonathan Escarzaga, was discovered dead inside his apartment.

"It thought it was a witch, or a mannequin", Lilian Argueta told the paper about finding the cadaver.

According to the Sun Sentinel, it was the body of Heather Anne Lacey, a 29-year-old mother of two, who disappeared in November 2013 and last seen in Deerfield Beach. The freezer was moved from his apartment to a scrap warehouse in Margate - 40 miles north of Miami - after the apartment manager hired a company to remove the appliances.

The Sentinel reports that witnesses said Lacey's arms were raised inside the refrigerator as if her hands were pushing against the door and her legs were compressed toward her upper body.

The freezer wasn't locked, the warehouse owners said.

Police are withholding full results of an autopsy by the Broward County Medical Examiner's Office until the investigation into Lacey's death if finished.

It's not yet clear if Escarzaga and Lacey knew each other.
