These continuation cars will come with some of Bond's legendary gadgets.

BIG wheels and loud exhausts may be a great way to turn heads - but Aston Martin looks set to trump the most heavily modified Ferrari or Ford Mustang with its latest James Bond-inspired road auto.

The vintage cars will be made in the Aston Martin Works facility in Newport Pagnell in Buckinghamshire. But these new gadget-laden cars will not be legal to drive on public roads, Aston Martin said.

Aston Martin hopes to start delivery on the 25 "new" DB5s next year. He explained: 'The main challenge has been to recreate the gadgets from the film world and transfer them into a consumer product. "We have license in the film world to "cheat" different aspects under controlled conditions". For instance, we might have four different cars to accommodate four different gadgets.

Aston Martin is setting the production run for the replica at 25, although in fact three more will be built. Deliveries are not expected to happen until 2020.

"The guns appearing from the front lights were a particular challenge as, in the film world, we are able to use flammable gas mixtures combined with an ignition system to produce a flame and noise effect". We obviously don't have that luxury on these DB5's as all the gadgets have to work in the same vehicle all the time'. This also means all 25 examples will be finished in Silver Birch paint, just like the original James Bond auto. You can snag one of these DB5 continuation cars for a mere $3.5 million (£2.75 million at current exchange rates).

Costs relating to its initial public offering (IPO) on the London Stock Exchange past year continued to weigh down on the company's bottom line.

"The most iconic of these is, of course, the DB5 which famously featured in Goldfinger, Thunderball and Goldeneye, as well as Casino Royale and Skyfall". The plant is where Aston Martin built the original run of 898 DB5s.

Some of the highlights include a smokescreen generator, machine gun barrels that poke through the front turn signals, and oil squirters that sit behind the rear turn signals, just like in the movie auto.

Ten years later, new vehicle production returned to the site with the DB4 GT Continuation.

Continuation models are a new trend for carmakers with rich heritage.
