Former WWE star Shelly Martinez denies making a post on Facebook regarding Ashley Massaro, who passed away at the age of 39 on Thursday. The WWE did not provide any details on her cause of death.

Massaro, who wrestled with the WWE from 2005-2008, also starred on Survivor: China later in her career.

Before her death, Ashley was involved in a class action lawsuit against the WWE - 60 wrestlers accused the company of "failing to protect its employees from repeated head trauma and concussions that eventually developed in long-term brain damage".

That earned her a $250,000 one-year contract. She ended her stint with the WWE in 2008. It just means that we still have no idea how she passed away. She also appeared on the April 2007 cover of Playboy Magazine.

WWE legend Mick Foley posted his memories, saying: "This is just terrible news - Ashley Massaro is gone".

This is just very bad news - Ashley Massaro is gone.

After the news of her death was announced, former and current WWE superstars took to various social media platforms to express condolences. She was just 39. At WrestleMania 23, she unsuccessfully challenged Melina for the WWE Women's championship.

Along with a photo of them together on the red carpet, Alexa wrote on her Instagram Story, "i wish i could have gotten more recent pictures".

Rest In Peace baby girl, I hope you know how much you were loved by everyone, especially your punx. She would have turned 40 on May 26, and leaves behind one daughter.
