Amazon is now offering the new Echo Dots Kids Edition in two new colors: Rainbow, and Frost Blue.

Customers of mobile operator Vodafone UK have just become some of the first in the world to be able to make and receive calls via Amazon Echo (Alexa) smart speaker devices from any of their contacts via their existing mobile phone plan, which is thanks to their new OneNumber feature (free for all Red pay monthly customers).

As Engadget reports, the Kids Edition is very much like the standard Echo Dot, but with a few key modifications to differentiate it and make it a better speaker for kids. The new Echo Dots Kids edition is available for $69.99, but Amazon is offering a 20% discount and you can get it for only $49.99 if you pre-order.

Amazon updated its Echo Dot speaker back in 2018, so it's no surprise that the tech company made a decision to revamp its original Echo Dot Kids Edition with a next-gen device as well. After the first complimentary year of FreeTime Unlimited, customers can continue it for $2.99 a month for Prime members or $4.99 a month for everyone else.

FreeTime Unlimited now includes news flashes from appropriate sources such as National Geographic, word of the day, and interesting facts, all of which can be tweaked by parents through the dashboard. The second new feature, and one that's sure to be popular, is Alexa Skill Blueprints. Another addition is the Alexa Skill Blueprints, which lets you create an interactive adventure using more than ten different preset templates. This feature is sure to grow to allow new adventures and other ways to interact.

Both new Kids Edition items come with Amazon's worry-free guarantee, which ensures that they'll buy you a new device if yours breaks - no questions asked.
