Sweden's Kosovare Asllani, center, and Chile's Karen Araya, right, challenge for the ball during the Women's World Cup Group F soccer match between Chile and Sweden at the Roazhon Park in Rennes, France, Tuesday, June 11, 2019.

Torrential rain had been falling for around a quarter of an hour amid a threat of thunderstorms when the Mexican referee, Lucila Venegas, made a decision to take the players off in the 72nd minute with the score still 0-0.

The Swedish and Chilean players were off the field for approximately 40 minutes due to the heavy rain.

Endler tipped a curling Sofia Jakobsson shot over the bar as Sweden continued to press for the opener, which finally came when Asllani and Janody provided the clinical finishes.

Substitute Madelen Janogy added a fine individual effort during stoppage time to wrap up victory.

Chile, ranked No. 39 and the fifth South American team to play in a World Cup, was hurt in the 59th minute when Maria Urrutia was injured and had to be stretchered off.

Sweden will next play Thailand in Nice on Sunday, with Chile set to play defending world champions the United States of America.
