Paramount Animation president Mireille Soria revealed that the Spice Girls "had an idea that we've been developing", and that the movie would feature the group's classic hits as well as new songs. The untitled feature will be co-written by Karen McCullah and Kiwi Smith with Simon Fuller serving as a producer.

Just as wonderful as hearing that is learning the fierce five-some came up with the premise for the forthcoming Spice Girls movie themselves.

A new Spice Girls movie is in early development at Paramount Animation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Paramount Animation president Mireille Sofia told The Hollywood Reporter that all five Spice members "had an idea that [they've] been developing" and are "very involved" in the project, which now has no release date.

The Spice Girls members Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham have all agreed to sign on for the project and are said to be "very involved" in the process. In 1997, three years after the Spice Girls formed, the musical comedy Spice World opened in theaters.

The yet-unnamed Spice Girls film is due to be released in 2020, 13 years after the girls' first move, Spice World was released. Critics roasted Spice World, finding its plot (or lack thereof) incredibly messy and the superficial gloss that coated the whole whacky adventure to be off-putting.
