According to reports, Jack Easterby, former Patriots team chaplain and current Texans executive vice president of team development, attended New England's Super Bowl ring ceremony party at franchise owner Robert Kraft's house, as did Caserio.

The Texans are trying to pry away director of player personnel Nick Caserio, having requested permission to interview him for their open general manager position, ESPN reported.

Schefter's tweet was short on details, but he noted that an National Football League investigation will follow.

The Patriots shut them down when they made the same request previous year - before the Texans hired Brian Gaine, only to fire him last week - and could play the same game this time around.

Tom Curran of NBC Sports Boston wrote this week that the Patriots could find a way to block the Texans' interview request, if so inclined.

The Texans, coached by former New England assistant Bill O'Brien, won Easterby over from the Dolphins, Panthers and other suitors around the league.

The Patriots filed tampering charges against the Jets back in 2015, after Woody Johnson openly discussed Darrelle Revis when he was still under contract with the Patriots.
