India and New Zealand, the two unbeaten teams of World Cup 2019 will lock horns tomorrow at Trent Bridge.

On the eve of India vs New Zealand match, on Wednesday Team's batting coach Sanjay Bangar came before the media and updated about Dhawan's injury.

Shikhar Dhawan, the left-handed opening batsman, will undergo precautionary scans on Tuesday to determine the extent of injury on his swollen left thumb.

The contest, which could be a curtailed one due to inclement weather, will have a quality Black Caps seam attack ready to make life hard for a new opening pair that will feature KL Rahul at the top alongside Rohit Sharma.

The team management said Rishabh Pant would join the side in Manchester ahead of the match against arch-rivals Pakistan, which takes place on Sunday.

India will definitely be desperate to see Dhawan recovering as quickly as possible.

"Since Dhawan's assessment will take 10-12 days, till that point of time, we wanted to make sure if and when the replacement is required and I am saying if and when, then it is always good to have a replacement player coming in and practising with the team as a stand-by", Bangar said. India Today TV is India's leading English News Channel.

Note: Pant will only be included in the squad if Dhawan is ruled out of the World Cup.
