President Trump and Joe Biden attacked each other yesterday in what could be a preview of either the 2020 election or a tremendous migraine I've felt coming on for weeks.

The exchange laid bare the rising political stakes for each man. "Even the people that he's running against, they're saying: 'Where is he?"

Speaking Tuesday evening in Davenport, Biden suggested Trump was an "existential threat to America" and said voters must stop the president's attempts to elevate his office beyond its traditional limits of power.

Biden will spend his day campaigning in eastern Iowa, according to his schedule, while Trump will head for the western side to make remarks on renewable energy before flying to central Des Moines for a dinner and fundraiser with the state's Republican Party.

"I guess he's really fascinated by me", Mr Biden said. He noted that Trump "found time to go after Bette Midler in the middle of the D-Day ceremonies", referring to the president's ongoing online feud with the actress.

Democratic presidential front-runner Joseph R. Biden made his biggest campaign promise yet Tuesday, telling an Iowa crowd that he's going to "cure cancer" if elected president. "Warning of the influence it's had on American farmers and producers, Biden plans to name Trump an "existential menace" to the nation.", Donald Trump and I are each in Iowa at present. The former vice president hit Trump on the economy - an issue the president often promotes as his chief strength in a time of low unemployment.

The veteran Democrat has attacked Trump for his tariff policy and its impact on Iowa farmers.

Biden added that Trump "backed off his threat of tariffs to Mexico basically because he realized he was likely to lose" in manufacturing states such as MI and Ohio.

The president is expected to highlight his efforts to help farmers hurt financially from Chinese tariffs on USA agriculture products, measures that were imposed a year ago after Trump slapped levies on Chinese imports. Mexico countered that no secret deal was in the works.
