What was once a mediocre survival title has been boosted into one of the greats, with a VR mode coming later this year. No, fans have crowdfunded a No Man's Sky billboard specifically created to thank developer Hello Games for not giving up on the popular game. But all things pass, outraged players either moved on or calmed down, and in time, a dedicated, supportive, and evidently grateful community has flourished alongside Hello Games' hard work.

"The funds will be used to print and install a billboard in Guildford UK, within walking distance of the Hello Games LTD office", the page reads.

The money will also go toward buying lunch and a case of beer for the Hello Games team. The game is nearly unrecognisable from its launch state, and its Reddit community has found a touching way to say "thank you". As for the rest of the cash, Cam G says he plans to use it to start a "charity drive" that will buy games and donate them to disadvantaged and sick children. I'm really excited to share my vision for this cause. The No Man's Sky subreddit, in recognition of Hello's work on improving the game, clubbed together recently and has bought a billboard right outside Hello's offices saying thanks.

With pre-release trailers showing a procedurally generated universe containing 18 quintillion planets, large-scale space battles, and more, anticipation surrounding its release was so high that Hello Games' boss Sean Murray received death threats when the game was delayed by two months in 2016. It's actually pretty close to that mark now, and the No Man's Sky fanbase is doing something pretty cool to express its gratitude to Hello Games for sticking with it.
