Avengers: Endgame's success at the box office made for an even bigger payday for star Robert Downey Jr.

With Endgame earning about US$700m ($1.052b) in profits from its US$2.7b ($4.059b) box office intake, Downey Jr took an extra US$55m ($83m) - bringing his total Endgame earnings to almost US$75m ($113m).

RDJ apparently earns a further eight percent from the movie's profit, after its production and marketing costs, which are said to be in the region of $700 million so far, meaning he earned another $55 million on top of his salary.

Downey Jr. isn't the only star set to make some serious cash: THR also reports that Scarlett Johansson will be returning to her Black Widow character for a 2020 standalone film for which she is reportedly making around $20 million.

Forbes compiled a list of the 100 highest earning celebrities in 2019, and 6 of the Avengers are on this list.

Prior to the release of Endgame, it was estimated that he'd made in the region of $200 million from Marvel, over all the movies he's appeared in, not including this extra bump.

Famously, he made $10 million from his brief role in Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017 - equating to $1 million per minute on screen.

Let's just say he's come a long way from is $500,000 fee for the first Iron Man movie back in 2008.
