Microsoft Touts 13 Million Teams Users Prior to Inspire Partner Event

"We are excited to announce that several of our core products are in the process of becoming certified for Microsoft Teams", said Chris Merrick, Director Global Systems Marketing at Shure. Even though partners were in an uproar over this change, I figured Microsoft officials already had decided after much consideration that the company could weather the IUR storm.

Teams, launched a couple of years ago, is Microsoft's "hub for teamwork" or "workspace collaboration" application that's typically compared with the Slack communication solution. When Slack last announced its DAU number in late January, the company had "more than 10 million" daily active users. Given its latest milestones, Microsoft Teams is likely now more popular than its rival. More than 13 million people now use Teams on a daily basis - and more than 19 million people use it weekly.

"We're less anxious about the numbers that stand right at the moment, and we're more concerned about growth", Jared Spataro, corporate VP of modern workplace, said at a Microsoft press event. Microsoft generates more than $120 billion in revenue annually, but Schuster said previously that the rising costs would have required the partner organization to cut back on other key initiatives. The rapid growth of Teams is possibly due to its inclusion in Office 365 subscription plans, according to 2018 survey analysis by Spiceworks, a resource site for IT pros, which also reported back then that Teams use had overtaken Slack.

Where the two services differ, however, is the companies to which they appeal. Microsoft Teams steadily grew between its launch date and the beginning of 2019 and then spiked over the past year. Users will now receive priority notifications for important messages. This feature sends out an alert to the recipient every two minutes until there's a response.

Besides that, Microsoft introduced the option to turn on read receipts and add moderation to their channels. These features will roll out this month. But a few new features may not exactly be welcomed by those who use it. At this time, it's rolling out what it is calling "announcements", which permits necessary information to be highlighted in a channel. This feature is now available. Later on, users will be able to post across multiple channels.

Employers will probably love the fact that a new Time Clock feature will allow employees to clock in and out, including for breaks. The Shifts module, which allows employees to clock in and out, is also coming out now. Here's how she makes and spends her $360 million.
