Almost two years after the Netflix series had us all locking up our shoe collections, the creepy David Fincher drama will return for Season 2 on August 16.

The series, which stars Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany, initially launched in October 2017 and was quickly renewed for a second season a month after its debut. The pair help local police find serial killers (and get ahead of them) by better understanding their psychology through working with already imprisoned murderers.

During a podcast with The Treatment's Elvis Mitchell, Mindhunter executive producer/director David Fincher announced that Season 2 - which will span just eight episodes, two fewer than the freshman run - will premiere on Friday, Aug. 16.

Season 2 fast-forwards to the Atlanta child murders of 1979 to 1981, where 28 African-Americans were killed.

Other serial killers to be featured in Season 2 include Charles Manson (played by Justified's Damon Herriman) and David Berkowitz aka "Son of Sam".
