The Houston Rockets have signed former 2013 first overall selection Anthony Bennett to a non-guaranteed deal, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

In an earlier report by Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, the Rockets are said to be planning to bring Bennett to training camp this fall. Bennett, who was drafted first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2013, hasn't appeared in National Basketball Association regular season game since the 2016-17 season when he played with the Brooklyn Nets.

Bennett averaged a career-high 5.2 points with the Timberwolves after just one season in Cleveland.

His best performance came on November 30, 2018, when he erupted for 36 points by shooting 12-for-13 from the field and 8-for-9 from beyond the arc.

More than six years after being drafted with the No. 1 overall pick, Anthony Bennett is coming back to the National Basketball Association and joining the Houston Rockets.

Bennett averaged 12.2 points and 4.5 rebounds in 25 games for the G League's Agua Caliente Clippers in 2018-19. It remains to be seen though if he can do it with the Rockets.
