Mauro Icardi has mutually agreed not to travel with the rest of the Inter squad for their pre-season tour of Asia and will now leave the club's training base in Switzerland to return to Milan.

In a tweet on Saturday, Inter Milan said the decision with Icardi came by "mutual agreement".

Despite Juve not now being interested, Icardi's return to Milan would appear to provide the opportunity to negotiate a potential exit from San Siro.

The Argentina striker, 26, was stripped of the club's captaincy in February.

"Icardi will continue on his path of athletic reconditioning in the coming days but will not take part in the summer tour in Asia".

Inter sporting director Giuseppe Marotta indicated that Icardi isn't part of Antonio Conte's plans for next season, with both Juventus and Napoli interested in signing the player.

Inter face Manchester United in a pre-season fixture on 20 July, followed by friendly matches against Juventus, Paris St-Germain, Tottenham and Valencia.

United are willing to sell Lukaku, but want their valuation met by the Italian giants before sanctioning a move.
