Elon Musk says he supports Andrew Yang for president in 2020

Multi-billionaire tech moghul Elon Musk has openly supported Democratic candidate Andrew Yang who is the fray for the 2020 United States presidential election, on Twitter.

Musk said in a separate tweet that universal basic income, an idea Yang supports, is "obviously needed". Changing one's mind is not a bad thing'.

The comments came in response to Yang's tweet expressing that he doesn't expect people to agree with him on everything, but hopes they would trust him that he's trying to solve problems.

Yang also made headlines recently for visibly breaking down after hearing how a woman lost her 4-year-old daughter killed by a stray bullet as her twin brother witnessed it.

Yang had pledged to give $1,000 a month in free cash to every American aged 18 or older if he is elected president in 2020. "I think this is very important", Musk added in another tweet. If he wins, has promised to work towards providing a universal basic income for all citizens, automating the economy and improving medicare in the US. Yang told Jezebel in April he wanted to be America's first ex-goth president.

Musk endorsed the Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in 2016 but joined President Donald Trump's economic advisory team after the president's inauguration.
