China urges PH to probe death of Chinese man

Treating this as another case of abuse against a Chinese national in the country, Presidential Spokesman and Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador S. Panelo said the President has already ordered the Philippine National Police (PNP) to investigate the case quickly. In here, it showed a supposed Chinese national who was putting handcuffs on another person.

Philippine Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin on Tuesday vowed to bring swift justice to the people responsible for the death of a Chinese national in the Philippines.

The Philippines has protested the presence of more than 100 Chinese fishing vessels off Thitu island, a tiny island it holds near China's militarized artificial island at Subi Reef. The country's top diplomat said he agreed with the statement issued by the Chinese Embassy in Manila Monday night urging the Philippine government to protect the rights of its citizens in the country.

Lorenzana told news channel ANC that like other countries conducting research, or moving warships near its coastline, China should have informed the Philippines about it. "It's telling them we know what you are doing and please tell us what you are doing there", he said.

The incident in Las Piñas happened after the Chinese embassy in Manila reported abuses being committed against Chinese workers in the online gambling industry.

The Philippines claims parts of the South China Sea within its EEZ and calls it the West Philippine Sea.

The alleged Chinese ship, which docked off Subic Bay, is a former Japanese vessel acquired and converted into a yacht by a businessman based in the area, Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said Sunday. Via its nine-dash line on maps, China says it has historic jurisdiction to nearly the entire sea, although the 2016 arbitral ruling declared that invalid under worldwide law.
