Whilst performing their hit "Loving Someone" during their final gig in the UAE city, Matty ran off stage and planted a kiss on a male fan's lips after he asked him to marry him.

Yesterday, while playing at a concert in Dubai - where homosexuality is illegal - frontman Matt Healy kissed a male fan on the lips.

Homosexual sex is illegal in the United Arab Emirates, and the UK Foreign Office advises that public displays of affection are frowned upon and there have been arrests in the past for kissing in public. As recently as 2017, a British traveler faced charges of three years in prison for touching another man's hip at a bar in Dubai (he was reportedly exonerated of all charges a day later).

Tweeting about the show after it ended, Healy wrote: "Thank you Dubai you were so fantastic. I don't think we'll be allowed back due to my "behaviour" but know that I love you and I wouldn't have done anything differently given the chance again".

This isn't the first time The 1975 have expressed support for their queer following.

The band, which is touring behind its 2018 release "A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships", has always been a vocal advocate of LGBTQ rights and donated funds to open London's first LGBTQ community center previous year.
