No Man's Sky's Beyond update launched yesterday, bringing a new lease of life to the divisive space exploration game. Maximum player count on consoles has increased from 4 to 8 and on PC from 4 to 32. Not only will this update add VR support to the game, but it looks like multiplayer is going to be expanded on with a new "massively multiplayer" social space known as The Nexus, where you can meet up with fellow explorers.

Beyond is not only the largest update ever rolled out for the game, but Hello Games has even gone so far as to refer to it as Update 2.0, implying that this is truly the next evolution of No Man's Sky. While VR is supported across PC and PlayStation VR, those trying to play the game on a Windows Mixed Reality headset have hit major issues getting the game to work. But some players are just having trouble accessing the content.

Bug reports on Reddit are piling up and majority have been related to crashes at a specific point in the game, particularly when leaving one's base. Many fans have been enjoying their time exploring the galaxy in this all-new immersive version of No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky is now very different game, and Hello Games has released the full No Man's Sky Beyond patch notes to prove it. Given the amount of improvements and new features it's adding into the core game, this isn't all that surprising. Almost every part of the game has been tweaked in some way, so if you've been holding off heading back in - now might be the time to give No Man's Sky another chance. And Hello Games followed Next with its latest update, Beyond.

No Man's Sky was first released in 2016 and promised players they could explore over 18 quintillion planets, all procedurally generated.

Murray said that following the launch of Next, Hello Games was working on hot-fixes "often daily", so there's a good chance we'll see hot-fixes deployed for Beyond as well.
