Cristiano Ronaldo scores four goals as Portugal crush Lithuania in Euro qualifiers

Cristiano Ronaldo once again stole the show for Portugal, scoring four goals during a Man of the Match performance against Lithuania and breaking another impressive European all-time record along the way.

The victory saw Portugal cement second place in Group B of the Euro 2022 qualifiers, with eight points from four games.

The Juventus forward has scored eight hat-tricks for his country over the years, which includes tonight's magnificent display against a helpless Lithuania.

Serbia are a further point behind in third after a 3-1 win in Luxembourg.

He opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a typical finish from the penalty spot, and then scored three goals in the space of 15 minutes to make it 4-1.

Portugal coach Fernando Santos said: "Ronaldo is the best player in the world, this is clear and unmistakable proof".

"I'm having a good time, but the team was doing very well too", Ronaldo told reporters.

Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored 92 worldwide goals after his latest display. The ball ended up hitting him on the head and went into the goal.

Ronaldo set up good chances for Felix and Bernardo Silva, which were wasted, after the break before taking matters into his own hands.

Aleksandar Mitrovic scored twice to keep Serbia's hopes alive with a win in Luxemburg. The Fulham striker headed the visitors in front after 36 minutes and Nemanja Radonjic curled in the second 10 minutes after the restart.
