Investigators quickly discovered that Hatcher had allegedly stolen her parents' debit card and completed two transactions - one for $503.00 and one for $926.40, "later identified as money given to two different individuals to kill her parents", the affidavit says.

Hatcher has been officially charged with two counts of criminal solicitation of murder.

Bank statements from the card allegedly used by Hatcher to coordinate the killings showed a withdrawal of A$730 and another of A$1,300.

Hatcher then said she paid "a black male" $900 for the murder because the first "act was never carried out".

She added that $100 of the first transaction was used to buy cocaine while another $400 was given to the second witness.

Neither plots were successful.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office said that Alyssa Michelle Hatcher was arrested on Monday (9 September). Then, she used the money to try and carry out the murder-for-hire plot, they said.

Hatcher was nabbed and booked at the Lake County Jail where she was processed and turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice. The judge also appointed Hatcher a public defender.

Police are still trying to determine a motive for the alleged crimes but it was reported she had posted a now-deleted Instagram picture of herself smiling, with "Ruthless" as the caption.

Police said Hatcher's mother discovered that her debit card was missing from her locked wallet inside her home. He told authorities that Hatcher was last seen on Monday morning. "When it comes to something like that I can not imagine the shock you would be in as a parent knowing that this is my daughter ... what my daughter meant to do".

He also told WFTV that her parents are decent people.

"The parents did press charges", Sgt. Jones said.

Sgt Fred Jones said: "There were people who were saying on social media how much she hates her parents".
