Michael O'Neill, the Northern Ireland manager, will try to use the pain of Thursday night's late collapse against Holland to inspire his side in a last-ditch attempt to save their Euro 2020 qualifying hopes next month.

The visitors had defended valiantly for the vast majority of the game, and took a shock lead against the run of play after 75 minutes when Josh Magennis rose above Matthijs de Ligt to head home and send Northern Ireland fans into ecstasy.

However, Depay levelled 10 minutes from time and De Jong, brought on shortly after his team fell behind, prodded in on the line in the first minute of stoppage time after his initial effort had looped into the air.

"When the draw was made in Dublin, we knew we were in the toughest group", O'Neill said.

That win in Rotterdam means Netherlands, Northern Ireland and Germany each have 12 points in Group C, but Koeman will be without the 25-year-old for Sunday's trip to Minsk.

"They are devastated in the dressing room", O'Neill added. "Given the nature of how we lost here it may well well be effective to beat them in Belfast".

O'Neill's aspect had finished his game realizing wisely on the night, aware about their technical deficiencies when when in contrast with the Dutch, but ready to uncover up for it with dogged pressing, harassing Holland into errors and knocking them off their dash.

For long periods, they frustrated the hosts and put the pressure on the shoulders of a young team wanting to ensure the Dutch do not fail to reach a third major tournament in a row.

"They were able to make substitutions that strengthened them and that ultimately proved to be the difference".

"It was hard with the time-wasting and the fouls but we must have respect for them".

"They bring on players like Malen and De Jong and Van de Beek who have been courted by clubs all over Europe, and we brought on two lads who play in League One".
