Dacia reveals the all-new Spring Electric: the electric revolution by Dacia

The Dacia Spring Electric is now available in its standard version with two new versions for new mobilities: a version adapted to car-sharing for shared electric urban mobility, and a cargo utility vehicle, for last-mile deliveries with no pollutant emissions. Like other Dacia models, it's created to be affordable - although we don't have a price for it yet - but we would expect it to come in under £20,000, if it goes on sale in the UK. Perhaps unsurprisingly, a 0-62mph time isn't quoted, but that's not too important for a auto that's unashamedly city-focused.

Renault has not published a claimed or predicted driving range for the Megane eVision but has revealed the battery can be fast charged at up to 130kW (DC).

Pressing the Eco button limits power to a meagre 31bhp and pegs the top speed at 62mph, which is said to improve the car's range by almost 10%. Charging takes five hours or 8.5 hours if you get a 7.4kW or 3.7kW wallbox respectively, and an 80% top-up at a 30kW charger takes around 50 minutes.

There's also quite a fair bit of standard safety features too, including a speed limiter, ABS, ESP, EBD, six airbags, an SOS button, automatic headlight activation and automatic emergency braking (operational from seven to 170 km/h).

The free MY Dacia smartphone app allows drivers to check the battery level and remaining driving range in real time, to programme pre-conditioning of the passenger compartment (air conditioning), and also to locate the vehicle. The company already makes a small electric auto known as Zoe.

For weight optimisation reasons, this version does not have a spare wheel. These include the company's signature front grille, a Y-shaped lighting signature for the taillights and an orange colour pack on the launch version.

This new arrival was first unveiled in March 2020, when Renault presented a show-car version of the Dacia Spring Electric.

The Cargo features a boot that extends where the back seat is usually located, with a plastic lining on the floor. This expands the cargo capacity to 800 litres, with a loading length of 1,033 mm and a maximum payload of 325 kg.

However, to keep the price down, many items like manual air-conditioning, power-adjustable mirrors, rear parking sensors and a rearview camera are optional extras.
