Netflix has confirmed about the event and its related offer in its Q3 2020 earnings call and has further said that it will also be extended to other countries as well. This means that those who still haven't got an active Netflix subscription will be able to stream content on the platform for 2 days, for free.

The streaming giant is going to start an initiative called "StreamFest" on December 4 that will allow viewers to use the platform for 48 hours and see the content they want to without any charge, Variety first reported.

Currently, Netflix offers a trial period of 30 days for new users only.

"An idea we are excited about - and we'll see how it goes - we think that giving everyone in the country access to Netflix free for a weekend could be a great way to expose a bunch of new people to the awesome new stories we have and hopefully get a bunch of those folks to sign up", Peters said.

Can't find the free 30-day trial offer on Netflix? It will be a free weekend-long trial, where non-subscribers will get access to not just specific TV shows or movies. The streaming giant competes against the likes of Disney-Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video, Voot, Alt Balaji, etc that not only offer more regional content but are also priced affordably. "An idea we are excited about - and we'll see how it goes - [is] we think that giving everyone in a country access to Netflix free for a weekend could be a great way to expose a bunch of new people to the incredible new stories we have..." Netflix is still bullish about the predictions that it'll add 6 million new subscribers in Q4 2020 to touch the target of 201 million subscribers globally. Protocol had first reported Netflix's plans for a StreamFest after a code in the Netflix app revealed the idea.

StreamFest will initially be limited to India and will kick-off on December 4th (Friday), as per Variety.

Now that Netflix has done away with the free trail that everyone apparently loved so much that creating a new email account every month was worth the effort, the streaming service is looking at ways of making the platform more accessible. Secondly, it offers a basic plan at Rs 499 with 480p streaming on any one screen at a time including Mobile, TV and PC while its Rs 649 Standard plan that offers to stream content in Full HD resolution on two devices simultaneously.
