The company went on to state that the upcoming PS5 will not just be a gaming console, it will be an entertainment hub for the users.

Further, the Media Remote for the PS5 will allow users to easily navigate the console and also power it on. Ahead of its launch, the company confirmed that the Sony PlayStation 5 will come loaded with several online streaming apps.

The blog adds that users will not have to download these entertainment apps through the PS Store like they previously had to. Sony also has a non-exhaustive list of additional streaming apps on the way, including Amazon Prime Video, MyCanal, Hulu, Peacock (NBC's new streaming service) "and more". Sony did not have a Disney Plus (Disney Plus Hotstar in India) app for PlayStation 4, something that users have complained about in the past.

Some streaming offerings won't be available on the console come launch, notably HBO Max, but it doesn't really affect South African consumers. While this won't make much difference in India, HBO Max subscribers in the USA will be affected.

"We know that for many of you, your PlayStation console doesn't get shut off when you're done playing games", Sony's Phil Rosenberg writes.

The PlayStation 5 teardown Sony recorded told us a lot about the internals of Sony's new machine, but it also showed accessory manufacturers how easy it is to remove the bright white casing covers. And, the users will be able to experience it through Media Remote, which will be provided alongside the console.

Disney+ will be making the cut, as well as Netflix, Spotify, Twitch and YouTube. Above these buttons, there are the play/pause, fast forward and fast reverse controls, along with controls to navigate. It's called the PS5 media remote and will have dedicated buttons for Netflix, Disney Plus and Spotify.
