First revealed as a concept on the same day the 2021 Ford Bronco made its debut, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 has now premiered in full production form, packing a 6.4 litre naturally aspirated V8 engine producing 470 hp at 6,000 rpm and 637 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm.

As you can see in the embedded Instagram video above, a Jeep Wrangler sprinted across the dirt.

To help it accommodate the extra power that V8 delivers, the Wrangler Rubicon 392 Concept features upgraded engine mounts and a modified frame. "392" badges denote the V8 engine's displacement in cubic inches. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters - a first for the Wrangler. Apart from this, the SUV also comes with a set of Fox Shocks upgraded suspension, upper control arms, and heavy-duty brakes. Rolling stock is comprised of LT285/70R17C tyres on beadlock-capable wheels as standard. This is activated from a button on the dashboard, and speeds can be adjusted between 1-5 miles per hour (1.6-8 km/h) via the electronic Range Select control.

The new auto model has a bulging air scoop in the hood created to allow air to get into the engine, providing full engine power even if its scoop is clogged with mud or snow. Wrangler Rubicon 392 is two inches higher off the ground than the original design, which allows better road performance when driving up steeper slopes and going through 2.7 feet of water. Here, the included Jeep Off-road Pages feature enables occupants to monitor the vehicle's pitch, roll, altitude, Global Positioning System coordinates drivetrain output distribution and more. The SUV also gets several other standard features like leather upholstery, infotainment group, advanced safety, and body-coloured hardtop.

Jeep has not yet revealed the price of the new Wrangler Rubicon, but it is expected to be between 50 and 60 thousand dollars. It has Dana 44 front and rear axles, with thicker tubes, for hard off-road situations, electronic locking differentials and electronic disconnect for the front stabiliser bar. Because despite having driven the Hemi-powered Wrangler concept vehicle, Jeep said that it's "not a preview of a specific production model, but a proof of concept".
