Westbrook, 31, famously joined the Rockets past year after his former team, Oklahoma City Thunder, agreed to trade the -time NBA All-Star to Houston in exchange for fellow point guard Chris Paul, two protected first-round picks and other draft considerations. After that, the result started nearly immediately. Following an early exit in the Western Conference semifinals against the Lakers last season, and the departure of GM Daryl Morey as well as Head coach Mike D'Antoni, it turns out one of their two stars is on its way out of "H-Town".

Amidst the rumors of the Houston Rockets being courted by the Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks in hopes of trading for Russell Westbrook, the former MVP has made sure his tenure in Houston is all but over after informing the team he wants out.

This week, those rumors started to gain traction once again, with the latest being that Russell Westbrook reportedly wants out of Houston.

There's no doubt the team underachieved this past season.

Harden has been with the Rockets for eight seasons and is the face of the franchise. Beyond all of that, crafting a deal to get to either of those salaries would require a deft touch, with Houston assuredly seeking Andre Iguodala and (an opted-in) Kelly Olynyk, especially with the Heat lacking much in the way of draft capital. Harden has three years left on his contract, with a player option for the final year.

It should also be noted that Westbrook did not deny the trade request. Harden's future with the franchise just might hang in the balance.
