I'm as proud to play for Wales as I am Man United, to be there at the club.

Unlike at United, James is often given a full game to showcase his abilities for Wales.

As revealed by Football Insider, Everton are keeping close tabs on the 23-year-old ahead of the January window as they plot a potential loan raid at Old Trafford.

'Whether I'm playing or not I'm proud. I may not have played as much this season, but I am sticking in there and always in and around it. I'll never think different of that'.

James had the opportunity to get some regular minutes under his belt with Wales during the global break, and scored a stunning goal in a 3-1 Nations' League win over Finland on Wednesday, but he insists he doesn't enjoy playing for his country more than his club at the moment.

It was his first goal since March, when he was on target for United in a Europa League tie against Austrian outfit LASK Linz.

"I wouldn't say it's a release", James, 23, said about global duty with Wales. When I do play, I give my all.

"After we qualified for the Euros we wanted to make sure we made another achievement, we knew it would be tough coming into this group with some tough games", James said.

He said: 'It's an honour to be part of it.

'We wanted to go and compete with the best teams in Europe. "We're really looking forward to that".

'It's a great bunch of lads and when we come away we all bond so well, you can see that on the pitch. But we'll hope to qualify without going into the play-offs'.
