Island Health COVID-19 case counts continue double digit climb

Northern Health announced on Thursday, that the outbreak at Peace Villa Care Facility has since been rescinded.

Ten people also passed away in the province in the last 24 hours as a result of COVID-19 complications, bringing the B.C. death total to 331.

Northern Health's death count remains at five.

This means the original orders regarding social gatherings, namely that they are only allowed within your immediate household, now apply to the entire province.

Henry also introduced a mask mandate, requiring face coverings in all indoor public and retail spaces, with a few exceptions.

British Columbians will get one more COVID-19 update this week, the day after the province's top health officials announced far-reaching restrictions to help curb the spread of the disease.

Thursday's new health orders also included restrictions on indoor group fitness classes and religious gatherings until December 7., though individual visits to places of worship are still allowed.

Provincially, 516 new cases were confirmed Friday with 7,122 now active in all health authorities. Check back for updates.
