The Oklahoma City Thunder will be added to the trade, with center Steven Adams being sent to the Pels as part of the updated agreement. It has now evolved into a four-team deal, and sources say it still has a lot of moving parts as teams work to finish it.

The NBA rumour mill has been swirling over the past couple of days, with the future of Steven Adams up in the air as the Oklahoma City Thunder undergo a complete personnel reshuffle. The Pelicans picked up a 2023 lottery-protected first-round pick from the Denver Nuggets on draft night for the No. 24 overall selection, R.J. Hampton, sources said.

The mega trade is a result of the Jrue Holiday to Milwaukee deal expanding, with one of George Hill or Eric Bledsoe expected to be flipped from New Orleans.

When finalised, Adams' departure from Oklahoma City would see him exit in 10th all-time in games played for the franchise, second in offensive rebounds, seventh in total rebounds, fifth in blocks and first in field goal percentage. However, as things stand, Adams would likely link up with rising sensation and 2019 No 1 draft pick Zion Williamson in the Pelicans' starting frontcourt. GM Sam Presti has been accumulating more draft picks than anyone knows what to do with, which just goes to show this team is all about building for the future.
