Michigan GOP lawmakers Mike Shirkey and Lee Chatfield were summoned to the White House on Friday in a presumed bid to overturn the election in the president's favor even though the vote clearly went to Joe Biden, released statements saying they'll follow the law.

Meanwhile, two GOP state lawmakers from MI met with the president at the White House on Friday over its election process, amid the president's ongoing legal challenges in several battleground states. They added that they had "not yet been made aware of any information that would change the outcome of the election in MI".

"We have not yet been made aware of any information that would change the outcome of the election in MI", the state's Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey and Speaker of the House Lee Chatfield said in a joint statement after meeting Trump.

But if he expected them to parrot the president's line and publicly support efforts to overturn election results in MI - which Biden won by 155,000 votes - he was mistaken.

"This morning, I tested positive for Covid-19", the younger Giuliani, who joined the Trump White House's Office of Public Liaison and Intergovernmental Affairs in 2017, said on Twitter.

The shadow looming over the meeting was the state's anticipated certification of the presidential election results on Monday, which are expected to show President-elect Joe Biden as the clear victor in the state.

Trump has refused to concede the race, making false claims about widespread voter fraud with no evidence and attempting to undermine the democratic process.

President Trump's team has until Tuesday to request a recount, which would be paid for by the state.
