The Football Association of Ireland has launched an internal investigation into a controversial video message shown to the Ireland squad before last week's friendly against England at Wembley.

The fallout to this episode continues, with Stephen Kenny apparently having a constructive meeting with FAI interim CEO Gary Owens.

The FAI say they're aware of issues surrounding the content of the video, and are looking into it as a matter of urgency to establish the facts.

There was no mention in the statement if there would be further discussions with FAI staff members to explain how the controversy became public in the first place.

It has been confirmed to the Daily Telegraph that players were shown a history of Anglo-Irish relations before the clash on Thursday evening, which saw England win after goals from Harry Maguire, Jadon Sancho and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Ireland have drawn with Bulgaria, twice, and Wales, once, as well as the Slovakia game which ended in penalties, and lost to Finland, twice, as well as England and Wales, once each, under Kenny.

They failed to make the Euros, after McCarthy got them to the play-offs, and they just avoided relegation by one point to Bulgaria in the Nations League.
