Stranger Things: Robert Englund joins season 4 of hit Netflix series

Englund is joining the cast of Stranger Things 4 as recurring character Victor Creel, "a disturbed and intimidating man who is imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital for a gruesome murder in the 1950s", the Stranger Things Twitter account announced in a thread revealing the new cast members. Freddy Krueger is headed to Hawkins! Described by Netflix as "a caring man who works as an orderly" at the facility, Peter is "tired of the brutality he witnesses day after day [and] may be poised to take a stand". Exhausted of the brutality he witnesses day after day, will Peter finally take a stand? He went on to portray the character in seven sequels as well as on the TV show Freddy's Nightmares.

The release date for Stranger Things 4 has not yet been announced.

On Twitter, several users called the combination of Englund and Stranger Things "epic", while others just reacted to the news with "OMG".

We previously learned in the season four teaser that David Harbour's character Hopper survived at the end of season three and he's now being held prisoner in the Soviet Union.

Mason Dye of Bosch fame will appear as Jason Carver. Here are all the new Stranger Things 4 cast members!

-Quinn is set for the role of The Hellfire Club's leader, Eddie Munson, an audacious 80's metalhead who runs Hawkins High's official D&D club. He plays a popular rich kid in town whose life begins to unravel as an evil force invades the small town.

Sherman Augustus will play Lt. Colonel Sullivan.

Othe recurring additions to the cast include Tom Wlaschiha as Dimitri, a Russian prison guard who befriends Hopper (David Harbour), Nikolaj Djuriko as Yuri, a seedy and unpredictable Russian smuggler who loves bad jokes and cold hard cash, Mason Dye as Jason Carver, a rich sports star whose flawless world begins to unravel in the face of a new evil, and Sherman Augustus as Lt. Colonel Sullivan, a no-nonsense man who believes he knows how to stop the evil invading Hawkins once and for all.

Eduardo Franco has been a reliable comic presence in the coming-of-age comedy Booksmart and the Netflix mockumentary American Vandal, and he'll bring those skills to a main cast role as Argyle, a stoner and pizza delivery boy. Serbian actor Nikola Djuricko plays Yuri, an unpredictable Russian smugger who thrives on cold hard cash, peanut butter and a bad joke from time to time. Game of Thrones actor Tom Wlaschiha, who played Faceless Man of Braavos Jaqen H'ghar, will now be seen as Dmitri, a Russian prison guard who befriends Hopper.
