Apple is preparing to launch a new iPad Pro lineup in 2021 with OLED screens, according to a report.

Apple last refreshed the iPad Pro in March 2020, but it was a relatively minor update, with new features including an A12Z Bionic chip that is essentially an A12X chip with an extra GPU core enabled, an Ultra Wide camera, a LiDAR Scanner for enhanced augmented reality, and better sounding microphones.

Mini-LED and OLED displays share numerous same benefits over traditional LCDs, including higher brightness, improved contrast ratio, and increased power efficiency.

Samsung Display and LG Display are now developing a new OLED panel that will be featured on the new iPad Pro models in the second half of 2021, TheElec reports. Now we hear that Cupertino is also planning an OLED iPad Pro release sometime in the second half of 2021 with panels procured from Samsung and LG. It was the first update to the iPad Pro since the device received a major redesign in October 2018. The existing iPad Pro lineup uses LCD panels that Apple calls "Liquid Retina" display.

According to the publication, Samsung Display and LG Display are now developing new OLED panels for the tablets.

Samsung Display, for example, was said to be adding a distribution chamber to one of its OLED production lines that would be able to stack emitting layers on top of each other.
