Netflix show ‘Delhi Crime’ wins International Emmy for Best Drama Series

Mumbai: Fresh from the International Emmy win for his series "Delhi Crime", director-writer Richie Mehta on Tuesday said the award is the collective victory of the cast and crew who worked tirelessly to make the show a reality. The cast of the web show comprised Shefali Shah playing the lead as Deputy Commissioner Vartika Chaturvedi.

The show, released in 2019, received massive acclaim for its sensitive retelling of a horrific crime that shook the entire nation.

Monika Shergill, VP, Content, Netflix India, congratulated the entire team of the series for bringing home India's first International Emmy win.

Delhi Crime stars Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, Adil Hussain, Rajesh Tailang, Vinod Sherawat, Denzil Smith, Gopal Dutt, Yashaswini Dayama, and Jaya Bhattacharya.

The Netflix series won the Best Drama Series award at the International Emmy Awards 2020 on Monday. Both couldn't register wins. Mathur lost out to Billy Barratt for Responsible Child.

Among the Indian nominees for the awards were Arjun Mathur in the Best Actor category for Amazon Prime Video's web series Made In Heaven.

The Best Actress award went to Glenda Jackson for the British series Elizabeth Is Missing.

"For Sama" won the best documentary award.

The Non-English Language US Primetime Program category saw a tie, with "20th Annual Latin Grammy Awards" and "La Reina del Sur" season two bagging the honour.

Amazon Prime Video's Four More Shots Please! was also nominated for Best Comedy Series.

Other stars, including Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Hrithik Roshan, Swara Bhasker, Hansal Mehta, Onir, Guneet Monga and many others also congratulated the team of Netflix series Delhi Crime on their win at the International Emmy Awards 2020. Actor Richard Kind hosted the ceremony from NY.
